Indian yarn, fabric and denim maker Century Textiles & Industries saw earnings in its textile division fall during the fourth quarter, despite sales growth.

The unit's net profit of INR290.5m (US$4.5m) for the three months to 31 March, was lower than earnings of INR329.1m in the same period a year ago. Sales, however, increased 8.7% to INR4.60bn from INR4.23bn.

Century Textiles' textile division manufactures yarn, cloth, denim, rayon, and tyre yarn.

Consolidated profits, which includes the company's cement, pulp and paper divisions, moved to INR118.1m from a loss of INR49m last year.
