Italian fashion house Cerruti has promoted Jean-Paul Knott as its new artistic director, replacing Nicolas Taralis who has left the company.

Knott, who has designed Cerruti's 1881 line since joining the company earlier this year, will be responsible for the main brand's men's and women's ready-to-wear collections.

Knott has previously worked for Yves Saint Laurent, and as artistic director of both Krizia and Louis Feraud.

Cerruti was bought by private equity firm MatlinPatterson for an undisclosed sum in August 2006, from bankrupt Italian conglomerate Fin.part.
