Fashion apparel company Gap Inc has appointed Charlotte Neuville as the Gap brand's executive vice president of design and product development.

Neuville, who will take on the role on 17 October, will oversee all aspects of product design and development for the brand's men's and women's apparel and accessories.

Neuville joins Gap from New York & Company, where she served as executive vice president of design, leading creative direction for women's apparel.

The company said that Pina Ferlisi, executive vice president of Gap design, is leaving the company, with immediate effect.

Gap president Cynthia Harriss said: "With more than twenty years of design experience, Charlotte has a strong and proven ability to interpret style and provide leadership in product development".

Gap Inc is a leading international specialty retailer offering clothing,accessories and personal care products for men, women, children and babies under the Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy and Forth & Towne brands.
