Licensing and brand management company Cherokee Inc on Thursday said it has signed an international licensing agreement for its Sideout brand with a unit of leading Chinese marketer and retailer Guangdong Leaderway.

The California-based company said the multi-year deal with Shanghai Bolderway Fashions Co Inc covers a wide range of categories including men's, women's, children's apparel and accessories.

"The Sideout brand should add major growth to our existing stable of US licensed brands. Sideout, a true California casual lifestyle brand is expected to become a huge success in China as our customers are constantly seeking more US branded products with this type of authentic look and feel," said Zhang Yong Li, president of Shanghai Bolderway.

Cherokee vice president of business development, Larry Sass, added: "We are very pleased and excited to have Bolderway as a partner for Sideout in China.

"With their strong merchandising and retailing understanding, the Sideout brand will now be able to expand its strong heritage as a casual lifestyle brand through Bolderway's reach and expertise in China."

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
