Retail chain Chico's FAS Inc, which sells exclusively designed, private-label women's casual clothing and accessories, announced on Friday a key new appointment.

Mori MacKenzie, has been promoted to senior vice president - stores, from her previous role as vice president - director of stores.

Marvin Gralnick, chief executive officer and chairman of the US-based 280-store company, said, "Mori has built a fantastic customer-oriented field organisation. The store team's product knowledge and enthusiasm is an instrumental part of Chico's ongoing success."

MacKenzie joined Chico's in October 1995 and has been responsible for the stores' organisation including store environment and operations. She started with the company as director of stores and was promoted to vice president - director of stores in June 1999.

Before joining Chico's, Ms MacKenzie had been involved in management and operations of specialty apparel retailing for over 20 years.
