The Children's Place Retail Stores Inc has failed to file its second quarter report with the Securities and Exchange Commission while it investigates "violations of the company's policies and procedures by two executives."

In an SEC filing, the children's apparel retailer said its board of directors is considering the appropriate actions to take on these matters.

But it added that the violations are unlikely to result in a material change to the company's previously reported results.

Last month the retailer, which operates 883 The Children's Place stores and 328 Disney Stores, said it needed more time to file its annual report with the SEC. The report should have been filed on 31 August, but was delayed by ongoing discussions over the remodelling and refreshing of numerous Disney Stores.

The Children's Place Retail Stores' second quarter losses nearly doubled to $27.1m, while sales rose 7% to $424.3m.
