Women's apparel retailer Christopher & Banks Corp has posted a 15 per cent increase in full-year net sales to $390.7 million, compared with $338.8m in the previous year.

The Minneapolis-based company, which operated 534 stores as of February 28, also reported an increase in net income to $39.3m for the year, up from $38.5m in the prior 12 months.

According to CEO Bill Prange, the company was pleased with its earnings for the full year.

"While the second half of the year was challenging, particularly in the sweater category, we were able to generate a 16.2 per cent operating margin for the full year," he said.

"At the same time, we expanded our store base over 20 per cent by opening a total of 97 new stores in fiscal 2004, including 68 Christopher & Banks stores and 29 CJ Banks stores."
