An increase in clearance markdowns coupled with a marginal rise in same-store sales for the third quarter has pushed Citi Trends Inc to a quarterly loss of $0.06 per share.

The retailer, which sells urban fashion apparel and accessories, said sales rose 14.2% to $99.5m from $87.1m in the same period last year.

Comparable store sales in the 13 weeks to 3 November were up 1.9%. The company operates 306 stores.
