Specialty chemicals firm Clariant is to set up a network of textile mills licensed to produce fabrics with Schoeller Technologies' nanotechnology-based textile finish.

Schoeller, which owns all patents for the NanoSphere finish, will continue to handle its sales and marketing to brands and apparel companies.
The NanoSphere finish provides textiles with a high water repellence, self-cleaning, and durable performance.

"In Clariant, we have found the right partner to market and further develop NanoSphere applications," said Hans U Kohn, chief operation officer of Schoeller Technologies.

"Clariant's expertise and technical know-how in textile chemicals, worldwide distribution and its support network will allow us to provide customers everywhere with the benefits offered by NanoSphere on a local basis."

NanoSphere is currently being used by outdoor, sports, business and work wear brands including Daniel Hechter, Henry Lloyd, Mammut, Polo Ralph Lauren and TRG/Victorinox.
