Clarks has appointed NYK Logistics as its sole service provider for the management of direct and outbound intra Asia deliveries.

NYK Group company Tasco is already responsible for managing Clarks' Asia Regional Distribution Centre (ARDC) in Port Klang, Malaysia, the shoe retailer said.

Under the new agreement, NYK will take responsibility for outbound volumes from the centre to stores and stockists throughout Asia, and manage direct shipments of product from vendors in Asia origins to customers in Asia.

The ARDC was established in 2005 to provide small order and replenishment services in the Asia Pacific region. The 2,500-sq-m centre handles inbound shipments from Clarks' vendors in Vietnam, Thailand, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Sri Lanka and outbound volumes to customers throughout Asia.

Clarks said that the ARDC expects to despatch more than 0.75m pairs of shoes during 2007.
