Sweden's clothing and footwear sector saw its August sales jump 15 per cent year-on-year, industry data revealed today.

Figures released by the Swedish Research Institute of Trade showed apparel sales jumped 14.7 per cent last month while shoe shoes climbed 16.8 per cent from the year-ago period.

It added clothing sales for the January to August period were five per cent ahead of last year with footwear sales flat.

Industry chiefs said they were pleased with the latest data and said retailer has also enjoyed a strong start to September.
