Coats Global Services in Vietnam will provide practical solutions to build efficiencies across the supply chain

Industrial thread major Coats Plc has launched its new services business in Vietnam, aimed at helping brands and manufacturers improve the productivity of their operations through a range of tools, processes and training.

The company said Coats Global Services in Vietnam will provide the sewn product industries with expert insights, technical guidance and practical solutions to build efficiencies across the supply chain.

Specifically, the productivity improvement tools will include lean manufacturing, shop floor training and colour management.

The announcement comes as Coats marks 25 years in Vietnam, producing products including flagship thread ranges such as Epic, Astra, Gramax and Gral with its joint venture partner Phong Phu Corporation.

The business is "vitally important" to Coats, with Vietnam being a major hub in South East Asia for global apparel sourcing. Vietnam's business environment further enhances its geographic benefits, the thread specialist said. The relative low cost, government stability and large, young population make Vietnam a low risk option from which global brands are able to source textile end products.

"Vietnam is a country of great potential and we are tremendously proud of the outstanding levels of success and productivity that our business here has already shown," group chief executive Paul Forman told a gala event in Ho Chi Minh City last week to mark the 25-year anniversary milestone.

Last month, Coats revealed plans for a new state-of-the-art zips factory in Bangladesh to meet growing demand as it marked the 25th anniversary of its joint venture with AK Khan Group.
