Columbia Sportswear is to open a new store at Portland International Airport this Friday (14 November), targeting the 14.6m people who pass through the airport every year.

The company already operates one Columbia store and an adjacent Mountain Hardwear outlet in the city.

"As an Oregon-based company with deep roots in the community, we are delighted to showcase our innovative outdoor products to the millions of people who visit our great state, as well as to those who call Oregon home," said Tim Boyle, Columbia president and CEO.

The new store will feature an interactive window, allowing travellers to explore the company's products and activities.

Meanwhile, the company is making a donation to the Conservation Alliance and to Oregon Wild to coincide with the opening.

Columbia is also planning to open stores in Minneapolis and Seattle later this month, and is set to open another outlet in Chicago next year.
