Textile and garment manufacturer, Apac Centertex Corporation said it was optimistic that it would achieve its sales target of $240m this year, but the company still made a loss of $9.2m in the first nine months.

The first ten months has already seen $202.86m in sales. The sales figure was $131.62m for the January-September period.

Company finance director Anas Bahfen said the outlook for 2001 was less positive. He did not expect much progress to be made, but hoped that the company would achieve the same sales as 2000.

Apac Centertex produces 1.2 million garments annually, but has a production capacity of 1.6 million pieces. Despite the company's sales increase, it still lost Rp82.7bn ($9.2m) in the first nine months of this year. Bahfen attributed the loss to foreign exchange losses of Rp144bn during the same period.
