Classic sports brand Converse has signed a deal with fashion brand Hurley to produce a collection of Hurley-branded footwear, starting in the spring/summer 2006 season.

Converse and Hurley will collaborate on design and development of the brand using Converse's strength and operational expertise in the category, while Hurley will handle brand strategy, design and marketing from its Southern California headquarters.

The partnership will drive Converse's continual progression within the footwear industry and allows Hurley to expand its footwear collection to complement the brand's other offerings in apparel, swimwear, eyewear and accessories.

The Hurley Spring/Summer 2006 line will feature a selection of styles reflecting art, music, fashion and surf and skate culture. The line consists of beach sandals, vulcanized rubber, modern skate shoes, and casual youth fashion and also features a special Hurley designed Limited Edition version of the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star shoe.

The line will be represented and distributed globally by Converse to better independent stores and specialty retail stores.

Converse and Hurley are both fully owned subsidiaries of sportswear giant Nike Inc.
