Casual clothing brand Uniqlo booked an increase in sales at its Japanese stores in August, after cooler weather helped drive demand for autumn garments.

The Fast Retailing-owned chain said same store sales rose by 3.8% year-on-year, while sales its own stores (which include new ones that are less than a year old) grew 6.1%. Total sales, including online, increased 6.2%.

Uniqlo closed eight stores in August.
