Spanish fashion retailer Cortefiel has announced that it will launch Springfield Women in September, local newswire Europa Press reported on Friday (June 9).

The Madrid-based retailer will introduce the banner in 61 stores: 31 in Spain and 31 across Western and Eastern Europe, the newswire said.

Cortefiel did not immediately return messages seeking comment.

The retailer will set up women's corners in its existing Springfield stores which target the young men's market. Depending on the project's success, the company may open standalone Springfield Women shops in the future, Europa Press added.

Springfield Women will also focus on the young female market and will reportedly launch its first apparel collection this fall.

The launch of Springfield Women follows the high success rate of the men's chain, which has 654 stores in 31 countries, Cortefiel was quoted as saying.
