Embattled footwear maker Crocs has introduced a new style of clog featuring a stripe it calls the Crocband.

It will be added to a new generation of Crocs' Beach and Cayman shoes.

The company is hoping they infuse a "youthful and optimistic spirit", with prices ranging from US$29.99 to $39.99.

"Crocs iconic clog styles have been part of our brand since day one," said John Duerden, president and CEO of Crocs, Inc. "The Crocband Collection allows us to celebrate this heritage, but with an updated style relevant to today's trends."

The shoes will be available for the US holiday season from retailers including Dick's Sporting Goods, Dillard's, Nordstrom and Journeys.

Earlier in the month Crocs announced it had swung to a second quarter loss of $30.3m on slumping sales.

The Colorado-based firm will be hoping the Crocband can revive sales, which fell 11.3% to $197.7m in Q2, and kickstart a return to profitability.
