Sportswear firm Cutter & Buck Inc has posted a second quarter net income of $2.1 million, up from $0.3m in the same period a year ago.

The Seattle-based company also saw second quarter net sales decline to $34.7m from $36.5m last year, while gross profit was up to $16.2m compared to $14.8m in the same period a year prior.

According to CEO Fran Conley, the company had "solid growth prospects" despite the mixed second quarter results.

"We have a strong brand and a strong balance sheet, and plan to continue to improve all aspects of our company," Conley said.

"(However) we do not expect sales for the next six months to be significantly higher than they were last year."
