UK department store group Debenhams has revealed it has inked a letter of intent to open a store in Finland.

The retailer said its Finnish franchise partner plans to open a store in the Iso Omena mall in 2015. However, this may not be the first store Debenhams opens in Finland because it is "reviewing a number of stores" in Helsinki, the country's capital.

A spokesperson for Debenhams said: "We believe Finland will be a good market for us, particularly with its comparatively strong economy and high levels of disposable income."

The news comes after the retailer said it will open its first store in Estonia in September 2013.
