French sports goods retailer Decathlon is investing EUR36m (US$46m) in building a new logistics hub at St Quentin-Fallavier, in south-east France.

Scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2010, it will be double the size of the company's existing facility in the same area that it is set to replace.

The 42,000 square metre hub will employ a total of 220 staff, with 80 new posts being created. It will supply Decathlon's 29 outlets in the Rhône-Alpes and Auvergne regions on a daily basis.

Decathlon is also investing EUR3m on renovating two outlets in Bron and Ecully, in the suburbs of Lyon.
