French sports goods retailer Decathlon is setting up a continental logistics hub at the Delta 3 business park complex near Lille, northern France, to meet the expanded needs of its activities in France and internationally.

Covering an area of 57,000 sq m, it will carry out a full range of logistics services. Products will arrive at the hub via nearby ports and after processing will be dispatched to Decathlon's regional distribution centres in Europe.

When fully completed, the hub could employ up to 300 staff and also house a training centre for the company's managers drawn from its retail outlets worldwide.

No figure has been released on how much Decalthon is investing in the hub, which is scheduled to open in 2008.
