US retailer Dick's Sporting Goods has appointed former Target supply chain executive Keri Jones as its chief merchant, and promoted Lauren Hobart to company president as part of a number of management moves.

Jones joins Dick's on 22 May from Target where she held a number of positions, most recently executive vice president of global supply chain. Prior to this, she held roles including EVP of merchandise planning and operations, and VP and general merchandising manager of toys and sporting goods.

Dick's has also promoted Lauren Hobart to president, effective immediately. She will continue to lead the company's customer and digital efforts, overseeing marketing, e-commerce and team sports HQ, and will assume responsibility for the stores. She joined Dick's in February 2011 as SVP, chief marketing officer, and was promoted to EVP, chief marketing officer in 2015.

The appointments follow the retirement of André Hawaux as chief operating officer. He will remain with the company through the second quarter of 2017. Don Germano, who led the company's stores organisation from 2010 to 2013, will re-join Dick's on 30 May as SVP of operations.

"André has been an instrumental member of our executive leadership team and has played a key role in executing our strategic plan," says CEO Edward Stack. "I am thankful to him for his dedicated service and for his continued partnership to facilitate a smooth transition."
