Parallel Lines, the trade exhibition specialising in branded and non-branded discounted merchandise, will be moving to Olympia Exhibition Halls for their second UK event, taking place on Sunday 25 and Monday 26 February, 2001. The inaugural show, which was launched at an Earls Court hotel in August featured future potential saving coming the way of the British consumer, including a £75,000 discount on a Ferrari sports car.

Companies exhibiting at the February show will predominantly be showing clothing, but there will also be toiletries, perfumes, electronic goods and sports equipment. Taking centre stage will be a line-up of top US brands on a specially dedicated American Pavilion. Parallel Lines is the only exhibition where retailers can source such goods in Europe.

"This show has not come a moment to soon for the UK retailer," said Parallel Lines director Adrian Broardbent. "With consumers reading almost daily that they have been 'ripped off' in one way or another with British pricing, be it a pair of fashion jeans or a family saloon car, the shops in the high street are keen to source high quality discounted brands to keep them happy."

Louise Hanson, Consumer Association Senior Public Affairs Officer, said: "If the British consumer is to get the same deal as those in the USA, things have got to change. Hence the Consumer Association's campaign to rethink the European trademark directive. We believe Parallel Lines will be a great event to up the profile of this issue in the UK."

Parallel Lines, part of Tarsus, the Internet-led media group, is expanding rapidly, following the success of its American counterpart, the Off Price Specialist Show which now takes place twice a year in New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.

Bill Jage, founder of the shows, witnessed larger than ever numbers of exhibitors and visitors at the recent Las Vegas event. "We started Off Price just over ten years ago with 23 exhibitors, and last month's show had a record breaking 326 exhibitors, and was visited by over 10,000 buyers."

Parallel Lines' move to Olympia, with its better facilities and excellent transport links, provides the space for the biggest showing of renowned European and American brands, at significantly discounted buying prices.
