DuPont launched its proprietary PolySolv software at the Polyester 2000 congress recently.

The product incorporates DuPont's knowledge of polyester manufacturing and chemistries to generate optimal operating conditions for the industry. The software can be custom-tailored to a specific plant design and operating conditions in order to deliver improved product quality, increased throughputs, decreased variable costs, and improved asset productivity.

The software models each of the reactors to provide understanding of the polyester process, the company said. It also provides the customer the opportunity to de-bottleneck their facility and uprate with minimum capital expenditure through greater understanding of the process. The tool troubleshoots problems from colour control to DEG levels. It will model the polymer properties and reactor conditions to enable the user to provide the optimum polymer quality.
