A new strategy aimed at significantly increasing market penetration of cotton/Lycra briefs and capitalising on recent developments in Tactel/Lycra seamless briefs, is being unveiled by DuPont Apparel and Textile Sciences at the beginning of September.

The company is taking a stand at the Lyon Mode City imtimate apparel and swimwear show in France, and will be using this as a platform for the new initiative. Its aim is to support various development efforts in briefs for men, women and the youth market in various blends of cotton, Tactel and Lycra through raising awareness among both manufacturers and consumers of significant comfort factors.

The overall message is that briefs containg Tactel and Lycra set new standards of 'close comfort' - namely second-skin fit, lasting shape retention and light support, extraordinary softness, freedom of movement and easy care. In addition, new developments in seamless underwear eliminate unsightly seams, making possible virtually invisible smoothness.

Lyon Mode City takes place from 1-3 September 2001.
