Bangladesh's apparel sector is to receive help from The Netherlands in an attempt to boost its export capacity.

The Center for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI) has agreed to give technical and training support to Bangladeshi companies, in particular helping to devise designs suited to European markets.

Representatives from Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association and the Dutch import promotion agency yesterday said that the CBI would identify the main areas of cooperation after it had fully reviewed a plan drafted by the BGMEA.

The scope of the agreement could also extend to the CBI offering training facilities to the fashion technology and helping to arrange trade fairs to promote Bangladesh's apparel sector.
