The Elder-Beerman Stores Corp (Nasdaq:EBSC) today announced its sales results for the five-week period ended September 30, 2000. September total department store sales increased 0.4 per cent to $55.9m compared to the same period last year. On a comparable store basis, sales for Elder-Beerman department stores decreased 1.8 per cent versus the same period last year. The best performing businesses in September were ladies' coats, cosmetics, denim in all categories of business and furniture.
