McMahon will take up the role of CEO in January

German fashion brand Escada has appointed Glenn McMahon as its new chief executive officer.

McMahon will take up the role in January and replaces Bruno Sälzer, who stepped down at the beginning of this year.

He joins the company from Tamara Mellon, where he was CEO. Prior to that, he served as president and CEO of US women's knitwear brand St. John Knits for six years.

With more than 25 years of experience in the luxury women's wear industry, McMahon has held positions at Dolce & Gabbana US, Giorgio Armani US, Donna Karan and Ellen Tracy.

Escada chairman and managing director Megha Mittal said the company is "well on track" to optimising operations and improving the financial performance. The priority now, he added, is to elevate the brand, enhance the customer experience and continue the growth and expansion.

"With Glenn's appointment, Escada has a very strong team in place for driving the next phase of brand building," said Mittal.
