The chief financial officer of fashion firm Esprit Holdings Limited, John Poon Cho Ming, resigned this weekend to pursue other interests.

Poon also resigned from his posts as director of the company, deputy chairman and as company secretary, taking effect yesterday (20 July).

Poon confirmed he has no disagreement with the board and there is no matter that needs to be brought to the attention of the shareholders.

The Hong Kong-listed board expressed its "gratitude to Mr Poon for his valuable contributions to the company's development during his tenure of office.

Paul Cheng Ming Fun, a current independent non-executive director of the company since November 2002, has been appointed deputy chairman.

Ernst-Peter Vogel, Esprit's senior vice president - finance Europe of the group, will relocate to Hong Kong to act as its deputy chief financial officer.

Also, the board announced that Chhoa Peck Lim Bel la has been appointed as the company secretary with effect from 20 July 2008.
