Belgian footwear chain Euro Shoe Unie was on Wednesday reported to be looking at buying a majority stake in shoe distributor Brantano from its owners, Belgian retail holding company Mitiska.

Euro Shoe Unie operates in four countries under banners including Discount, Avance and Shoes in the Box and employs more than 3,000 people while Brantano has a presence in Denmark and the UK.

According to the firm’s deputy director Guido D'Hondt, the purchase of the majority holding in Brantano would boost its growth and give it a presence in new markets.
