Leading manufacturer, marketer and licensor of sporting apparel, Everlast Worldwide Inc, has expanded its licensing agreement with German sportswear distributor Punch GmbH.

Under the deal, Dusseldorf-based Punch will serve as the Everlast licensee of men's, women's and children's apparel in Spain, Portugal, the Canary Islands and Andorra.

The line will be sold through department stores and sporting goods outlets from this September. Last October, Punch GmbH became the Everlast licensee of boxing equipment as well as products for sports such as aerobics, weightlifting and martial arts.

George Q Horowitz, chairman and CEO of Everlast Worldwide Inc, said: "This agreement with Punch, our 19th since our acquisition of Everlast in October 2000, is a continuation of our strategy to penetrate important international markets while enhancing the brand's global stature.

"Punch's considerable pan-European expertise in designing, sourcing and marketing active apparel were also key factors in our decision to grant them this new license. We are quite pleased with our relationship with Punch GmbH and look forward to continued success with them."

Geurt Schotsman, chief executive of Punch, added: "Our line of Everlast of boxing and exercise equipment was successfully launched in February of this year and continues to gain in popularity.

"Our expanded relationship with Everlast is the result of the demand for quality branded apparel we have experienced from our retailers. We believe the launch of our Everlast apparel lines will generate great excitement among consumers throughout Europe."
