Three former directors of men's fashion chain Ciro Citterio Menswear Plc have been banned from holding directorships for a total of 23 years.

The bans were imposed by The Insolvency Service and relate to the period leading up to March 14, 2001 when the operator of around 150 stores was placed into administration, the business sold and a new management team appointed.

Ramesh Gopalji Sthankiya, aged 55, of Wycome Road, Hall Green, Birmingham, was banned from being a director of five years; Vinodkumar Lalji Thakrar, aged 52, of Finlarigg Drive, Edgbaston, Birmingham, was banned for nine years; and Nilesh Thakar, aged 45, of 96 Avenue, Surrey, Canada, was banned for nine years.

The executive agency of the Department of Trade and Industry found all three guilty of unfit conduct due to issues such as breach of trust and breach of fiduciary duties.

It added the trio have no connection with the new management team.
