Polyester giant Tuntex (Thailand) Plc was on Monday reported to have been fined an undisclosed sum by environmental chiefs for breaching hazardous waste treatment laws.

The Bangkok Post reported the firm, a joint venture between Thai investors and Taiwan’s Tuntex Group, left 240 barrels of hazardous chemicals at a dump site in Ban Chang district last month.

The paper said the Rayong-based company used waste disposal facilities and waste disposal firms that did not have the correct licenses issued by the authorities.
