Clothing, textiles and leather product prices increased 2.7% in the year to August

The output price index for goods produced by UK manufacturers - also known as factory gate prices - fell 0.3% in the year to August, but saw a rise in apparel prices.

The drop compares to a fall of 0.1% in the year to July, according to the Producer Price Inflation report from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Factory gate prices fell 0.1% between July and August, unchanged since May.

Meanwhile, the overall price of materials bought by UK manufacturers - total input prices - fell 7.2% in the year to August, compared with a 7.5% fall in the year to July.

Total input prices fell 0.6% between July and August, compared with a 1.7% drop between June and July.

Clothing, textiles and leather product prices increased 2.7% in the year to August, compared with a 2.5% rise in the year to July, boosted by wearing apparel.

The clothing, textile and leather index edged up 0.1 from July to August.
