Swiss fashion chain Big Star Holding AG on Wednesday revealed it swung to a loss in 2002 on the back of weak sales.

The firm posted a net loss of 2.6 million Swiss francs ($1.9m) versus a year-ago profit of 5.3 million francs ($3.8m) as sales plunged to 119 million francs ($86.4m) from 147 million francs ($104m) in 2001.

The company cited weak demand in its key domestic market as well as Germany and the Netherlands for the loss but said it expects to return to the black this year amid restructuring a move to offshore manufacturing.
