Trendy clothing designer and retailer Americana, whose fans include pop stars Robbie Williams and Liam Gallagher, was on Thursday sold to a management team for £20 million.

The Manchester-based company, which designs and imports the Bench and Hooch labels, was sold by Nayef Marar and Barrie Suddons to a management team led by finance chief Alan Horridge.

Americana operates several Westworld shops in the north-west as well as concessions in department stores. It sees a profit of £8m this year on sales of £35m.
