Nominations have started for this year's UK fashion & textile export awards as it celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Categories for the awards aim to target a broader spectrum of suppliers and retail companies within the fashion and textile industry, the UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT) said.

For the 2011 Awards, the categories include Brand of the Year, Designer Business, Great Brit, New Exporter, Retailer or E-tailer, Rising Star and Textiles.

"We are hoping this year's Awards will attract entries from companies that have been selling overseas for the past 25 years as well as those who are just starting on their international journey," said UKFT director of international affairs Paul Alger. "The awards are particularly timely, as given the current economic climate, more companies than ever are looking to grow their business through exports."

The deadline for entries is 17 June 2011, the UKFT added. Awards are expected to be presented in October by HRH The Princess Royal.

Ariella, Pittards and Superdry were among winners of the 2010 Export Awards.
