Japanese retail operator Fast Retailing has decided to establish a subsidiary company in China.

It follows an aggressive store opening plan in the country, where it will soon open a global flagship store in Shanghai.

Separately, the company said August 2009 same-store sales at its Uniqlo chain increased by 5.6%, while sales at directly-managed stores increased by 10.2%.

Total Uniqlo sales including direct sales increased by 11.2% during the month.

The August sales rise year was attributed in particular to a successful early launch of Uniqlo's autumn ranges.
