Fashion firm Fast Retailing said it will take a 33.4% stake in shoe retailer View Co as it looks to widen its business offering.

Fast said the estimated price of the purchase is JPY2.2bn (US$19m). The share placement will be completed on 13 November.

View, which is listed on the Jasdaq market for start-ups, has a chain of 97 women's footwear stores in Japan. Its net profit was JPY359m for the year ended in February while revenue was JPY10.58bn.

Fast recently bought 95% of French-based lingerie maker Petit Vehicule.

It has also opened the first store under its new lower-priced brand g.u. inside a Daiei supermarket outlet.
