Sportswear brand Fila has named Hip Hop artist Nas as sole ambassador of its Fila Italia Footwear Collection, and will involve him in a marketing campaign this month.

The partnership includes print, broadcast and online advertising with retail promotions, artist tour support and album launch initiatives.

Fila's print campaign will be in Vibe, XXL, Giant and Fader, while its broadcast advertising incorporates Nas speaking about his experience with the Fila brand and will run from 15 July on BET nationwide.

The two parties will collaborate on the design of an 80s era vintage footwear and apparel collection to be released beginning with the Holiday 2008 season.

Jon Epstein, president of Fila USA, said: "It is not every day that a musical artist such as Nas comes into Fila and speaks from his heart. When Nas speaks, consumers listen. He is the truth and has real meaning and like Nas, Fila stands for something."
