Cardinale, the Chilean footwear manufacturer, achieved a seven per cent increase in sales during 2000, Estrategia reported. Manuel Gil, general manager for the company, said this equated to extra business of about $8m. Cardinale has been trading for 37 years and has captured about 17-18 per cent of the local market. Eight stores operate in the Santiago Metropolitan Region and close to 10,000 pairs of shoes are exported, mainly to Bolivia.
