The former assistant of an executive at fashion company Versace USA has filed a lawsuit in the US claiming gender discrimination, it has been reported.

Fay Rodriguez, a former assistant of Versace USA's president of wholesale Patrick Guadagno, alleged she was forced to relay sexually explicit voicemail messages but then fired when she complained, according to Reuters Life.

She filed the lawsuit at the federal court in Manhattan, New York, and seeks damages from the company.

A spokesperson for Versace told just-style: "Versace is an equal opportunity employer and as such we take these types of allegations seriously. However, we are confident that when the situation is resolved Versace will not be held responsible in any way."
