French Connection has appointed of Andrea S Hyde president of the group's US businesses, responsible for all aspects of the French Connection and Nicole Farhi US operations. She will join the company in July, initially in London, transferring to New York in due course and will report directly to the board of directors.

Hyde, 36, comes from Kenneth Cole Productions where she was senior vice president of marketing. She began her career at Calvin Klein in 1987 and her extensive experience in the US fashion industry includes three years in the marketing department of Estee Lauder, five years as director of advertising for Gap Inc and three years as COO of Badger Worldwide. Her appointment to French Connection represents a return, in 1998 she worked for the French Connection Group in London as special assistant to the chairman and VP of marketing.

With her extensive marketing experience, Andrea was a natural choice."

Andrea Hyde will succeed Michael Axelrod who will leave the company in September after running French Connection's American business since its inception 22 years ago.
