G-III Apparel has entered into a wholesale license agreement with apparel and footwear retailer Genesco for the design, distribution and marketing of GH Bass footwear in the US and Canada.

The line will be shown to the trade this summer, with first shipments expected for spring 2016. Distribution will be through better department and speciality stores.

“G.H. Bass is an iconic American brand and we are excited about the opportunity to build upon the Bass heritage with a best-in-class partner like Genesco,” said Jeff Goldfarb, G-III's director of business development. “We believe Genesco's expertise and market leadership in footwear is a perfect complement to our G.H. Bass team."

The licensing agreement is the fourth G-III has signed since purchasing the GH Bass brand in 2013. Other agreements are with PVH Corp for wholesale distribution of men's sportswear, and with Overland Shoes for wholesale distribution of men's, women's and children's footwear throughout Europe, and the operation of retail stores throughout Europe.

G-III Apparel said it intends to continue to revitalise and build the GH Bass heritage brand through improved assortments in its chain of 156 outlet stores and additional category licenses with strong partners. It will also look to produce certain key categories for Bass, including its planned launch of Bass women's apparel for delivery in autumn 2015.
