Apparel retailer Gap Inc has appointed Ivy Ross as executive vice-president of product design and development for its Old Navy division.

Ross, who joins the San Francisco-based company from toy maker Mattel Inc, has previously held positions within apparel companies Calvin Klein, Coach, Liz Claiborne and Victoria's Secret.

According to Old Navy president Jenny Ming, Ross has the ability to attract and lead creative teams that drive business results through innovative product design.

"Ivy's experience show that creativity and innovation can drive quantifiable results," Ming said.

"Her vision for developing brands, as well as her expertise in growing a global business and increasing market penetration, will benefit Old Navy as we continue to deliver great fashion to our customers."
