Latest figures show the Turkish Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) region exported $78.1 million worth of woven textiles in the first four months of 2002, up from $55.9 million in the same period of 2001.

According to the Southeastern Anatolia Exporters' Union woven textiles took a 47.2 per cent share the region's total exports between January and April 2002 - up from 29.9 per cent last year.

Main destinations for the goods were Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Romania, Uzbekistan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Belgium, Greece, France, the USA, Algeria, Spain, Iraq, the UK, Germany and Russia.
