Laos' garment export turnover increased 88% to reach LAK420bn (US$47.8m) during 2007.

It made the garment industry the country's third largest currency earner for the year, just behind crude oil and tourism.

Thus far, Made in Laos garment products have been shipped to EU, US, Japan and Canada, with most traveling to the EU.

EU exports enjoy the privileges of no tariff due to the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), and trade to these countries made up 91% of the Laos' annual garment exports.
