Specialty retailer Genesco Inc has extended its Dockers men's footwear license with Levi Strauss & Co through 31 December 2006.

Genesco also has an option for an additional two-year term to 31 December 2008 if net sales under the license are at least $50 million in 2006.

Genesco chairman, president and chief executive officer Hal N Pennington said the agreement to source and market men's footwear in the US under the Dockers trademark "has been a real success story."

Genesco launched Dockers Men's Footwear in 1992. According to market research firms The NPD Group, the Dockers has grown to occupy the No 1 unit market share position in men's dress casual footwear.

Nashville-based Genesco operates more than 1,550 retail stores in the US and Canada under the names Journeys, Journeys Kidz, Johnston & Murphy, Underground Station, Hatworld, Lids, Hat Zone, Cap Factory, Cap Connection and Head Quarters.
