Gerber Childrenswear, Inc. (NYSE:GCW) today announced the appointment of Bobby J. Prochaska, 59, to the newly created position of President and Chief Operating Officer of Gerber's Apparel Division.

As President of the Apparel Division, Dr. Prochaska will assume responsibility for all aspects of the Apparel Division, which manufactures and distributes infants' apparel principally under the Gerber brand name. He will report to Ed Kittredge, the Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gerber Childrenswear.

Dr. Prochaska joined the Company in January 2000 as General Manager and Senior Vice President, Operations of the Apparel Division. Prior to that, he served as President of Santa Rosa Resources, Inc., where he consulted to domestic, international and multinational companies on various management and operations practices. His background includes over 25 years of experience in the consumer products, textiles and apparel industries, with senior level positions at Milliken, FAB, Valdese Textiles and Kayser-Roth.
